Jumping is tiring work!

Robert was playing in his Jumperoo, which he still loves.
I was in the bedroom when I noticed it was awfully quiet in the other room.

Robert and the dog

Robert loves to play with our bull terrier Peggy Sue. He loves to watch her walk around the house. He loves it when she comes home from work with dad.
(Which one does he look forward to seeing more? I can't say.)

He holds his hand out and waits for her to come over to him and knudge him.

She lets him pull and poke her. (But no, we don't ever leave them unsupervised. We know it's not with any dog and a child.)

She's only allowed on his blankets when he's called her over.

She is a great dog with our son. She is so loving.

All of March

I just had to take photos of Robert in this chair. This is the same chair that my mother rocked my siblings and me in. I have the cutest photos of my brother Jason and I smiling and laughing in this chair. So it's kind of a family classic and you'll probably be seeing more of them.

So suave! GQ here he comes.

He laughs will his WHOLE face.

Also this month, my cousin Cara and her daughter Grace visited us. We had fun hanging out. It was fun to see her. It's been years even though we only live a few hours apart. We won't be letting that much time go by again.

Robert's first time at the park:

The swing was just so-so for him.

We enjoy going for walks around our house with Robert in the jogging stroller (Phil & Ted's. Great REI Scrach & Dent sale buy. I love it!)

And we went from winter-wear to...
Robert's first time playing in the grass on a quick trip to Albuquerque.

Here at a birthday party for my friend Anna's oldest son (she's in the middle with her youngest). Our babies are within a couple of months of each and were all on the same sleep-feed schedule.

Dustin's trying to fit in with the the ladies for a quick feed.

One last quick smile:

First Food

Robert had his first food: rice cereal.

He enjoyed it and leaned in to get more.

His second food was sweet potatoes, which he loved.

Sealed-in for sickness

We've been on lockdown at our house. No one in or out.

Oatmeal for breakfast. Soup for dinner. Bottles filled with Pedialyte. And cough syrup chasers all around.

Humidifiers running full-steam. Netflix instant queue emptied. Empty tissue boxes and cough drop wrapers litter every corner.

We are sick. No, it does not make me feel any better to know that so many more people than usual are sick as well, even when that includes the healthiest friend I have (sorry, Anna).

Fortunetely, we are (sort-of) on the mend. For two weeks I litterally have not left the house except for visits to the doctor and the two days last week I stayed at my inlaw's house and they watched Robert so I could sleep. (Thank you Lori and Katie!)

It's really not breaking news that I'm not feeling well. I have been sick off and on since before we got Robert. I don't recoup very well to begin with and less sleep has reduced my immune response even more. But it is saying something that both Robert and Dustin have been sick too.

Two weeks ago Robert started with a cough. Then Saturday night he was having trouble breathing and he got to see what the emergency room is like in the middle of the night on a weekend. I'm hoping it was a boring and long enough visit that he won't ever want to go back.

He had RSV with bronchiolitis, but his oxygen saturation remained high. A few days later they did try an oxygen treatment, but it didn't really help.

Update: we are all doing better.

Christmas Joy

Robert has such a cute "social smile." For Christmas he gave us lots of grins.

We only caught a few of his smiles on camera. But the rest of Christmas was just as joyful.

For Christmas, Robert got a new crib with bedding, a mobile, and a mirror. He also got some good toys he could chew on. Yum! (And we can't forget the handmade hat from aunt Mitchel Anne).

Grandpa Robert enjoyed showing off his newest grandson at our church Christmas dinner. (Grandma Lori shares her water with Henry).

We enjoyed a lazy Christmas day with Christmas Eve leftovers and lounging with Grandpa Robert.
